Rentoff is not a classic car rental company. Here, cars are rented out not by companies, but by ordinary people. This means a wider selection and often lower prices. However, first-time bookers often have many questions. In this guide, we will explain the entire process step-by-step.
1. Start with a search
On the homepage, select the city and rental dates. Then, narrow down the results using filters:
- Price range — find what fits your budget;
- Make and model — from Nexia to Camry;
- Transmission — automatic or manual;
- Fuel type — petrol, gas (methane/propane), or electric.
Filters are saved in the address bar — if you send the link to a friend, they will see the same search.
2. Carefully review the listing
Each listing, in addition to the price, has several other important points:
- Deposit — some cars require a security deposit, others do not;
- Cancellation conditions — this specifies how much of the money is refunded if your plans change;
- Mileage limit — how many km can be driven per day;
- Host badge — verified owners are indicated with a special badge.
If you have any doubts, ask the host a question via chat before booking.
3. Book and make payment
Select the dates and send a booking request. After the host confirms it, you will proceed to the payment page. Payment is made via Payme or Click, and the money does not go directly to the host — it is held on the platform until the rental is completed. This is your protection: if the car is not provided or does not match the listing's condition, the money will be refunded.
4. Inspect the car upon pickup
This is the most crucial step. Together with the host:
- Walk around the body, take photos of any scratches and dents;
- Check the interior, tires, and fuel level;
- Ensure that documents (vehicle registration, insurance) are in place.
Photos will later serve as your evidence in any dispute.
5. Return the car on time and clean
Upon return, the fuel level should be the same as when picked up, and leave the interior clean. This way, your deposit will be fully returned, and a positive rating will remain on your profile — making your subsequent bookings easier.
Useful tips
- Book your rental in advance — good cars get booked quickly during holidays and weekends.
- If you plan a long trip, choose a car with a more generous mileage limit.
- Leave your questions in writing in the chat — it's more reliable than verbal agreements.
We wish you a good trip — the keys are already waiting for you!
